LOS ANGELES — Fox's medical drama "House" is ending its eight-year run this season.

The show's producers, including Emmy-nominated star Hugh Laurie, said it was a "painful" decision but that the time had come to bring "House" to a close.

The drama stars Laurie as Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant but troubled physician with a gift for unraveling medical mysteries. Omar Epps, Robert Sean Leonard and Charlyne Yi are part of the ensemble cast.

In a statement Wednesday, Laurie and his fellow producers said they imagined Dr. House as an "enigmatic creature," and that it was best for him to vanish while there was still mystery in the air.

The season finale date for "House," which airs 9 p.m. EST Monday, was not announced.

This sucks! Yes, House is a brat, but the show has been one of our favorites right from the beginning. We haven't missed a single episode!!! TV will be the poorer when "House" is gone.

I think it jumped the shark a few seasons ago actually.

It has its ups and downs... but it still manages to make me wish House would take up a new career while being fascinating like watching a car wreck... the character is the quintessential brat, yet I've been in situations where I wish he'd been the doctor on MY case...

    ...sigh...

I liked the show in the beginning, but the more it became about House and less about the medical mystery, the less I liked it. And really, he's got to be the most despicable character ever. Not even one redeeming quality. In real life a bastard like that would have had the crap beaten out of him way before now. Truly a psycho and a sociopath and not even a very interesting one.

Yep. And yet... we can't help watching. Perhaps it is because as long as there is "House," we can feel superior, at least as human beans.

There have been times I wanted to throw a brick at the TV because House pissed me off so much... but, that was the point. It made it fun.

I just recently started watching it.. I do like it, although sometimes it get a little redundant.. And some things annoy me.. Like, Why do these doctors always go to their patients house and rifle through their crap?! That doesn't happen.. And can they just one time, get the dx immediately instead of jumping around to 500 unheard of explanations?

Anyhow, I don't know much about the main storyline (What happened to Cameron and the Australian guy? I have no idea why they are not in the later episodes.) , but I still enjoy watching it.. But no far Bitemore, It comes on at least 20 different channels now. ;) Its almost always playing somewhere.
